A trip around the Natural History Museum will certainly get those knowledge cells buzzing. The scale of number of well prepared exhibits is mindblowing. The latest exhibition is the Ice Station Antartica exhibition (open until 20th April 2008). Have you got what it takes to survive the coldest, windiest and more remote place on Earth? The Natural History Museum is looking for young ice recruits willing to brave freezing temperatures, 24-hour darkness, a scary snowmobile ride and life in a stinking penguin colony. Are you up for the challenge? Visit the exhibition to find out. Many of the exhibitions are free but some temporary exhibitions (like the Ice Station Antartica) carry a fee. It is quite easy to spend a good day in the Natural History Museum seeing lots of wonderful, thought provoking and educational exhibits without needing to pay. There are restaurants, cafes, alfresco bar, sandwich bar, snack bar, picnic area and coffee bar. So no shortages of options! The Natural History Museum offers great advice for parents as a survival guide! Here's a small selection of them (more can be found on the website) 1. The visit involves plenty of walking so wear comfortable footwear 2. The pushchair friendly entrance is the Exhibition Road entrance 3. There are unisex babycare facilities around the museum Entry to the Natural History Museum is FREE (with a small charge for temporary exhibitions) and open Monday - Sunday between 10am and 5:50pm. The museum is open every day except the 24th, 25th and 26th December. Last admission is at 5:30pm.
